Jul 19, 2020 · RTE player is a great little site linked to the Irish National broadcaster – RTE (Raidió Teilifís Éireann). As usual though if you’re not actually in Ireland when connecting to the website then it won’t work for you, although you can access some of the radio content and sometimes the Irish news. I normally use Identity Cloaker to access this channel, as RTE recently updated the flash player it uses for RTE player which blocks just using a simple Irish proxy. Identity Cloaker is a VPN based service, and one of the few that will allow you to watch RTE in UK or anywhere outside Ireland. Is RTE Live on Sky UK? Yes, RTE is available on Sky UK along with the cable provider Virgin media. Can I get RTE player on my smart TV? RTE Player’s smart TV app is available on both Samsung and LG smart TV. Is RTE Player free? The international RTE player app can provide up to 500 hours of free content. Dec 19, 2017 · In February 2018 the Irish broadcaster unveiled their 2018-2022 strategy. Under ‘Audiences first’ the strategy says that audiences abroad have access to RTÉ content online (e.g. RTÉ Radio Player) and that although LW will be phased out, “plans are underway for a UK DAB station for the Irish abroad”. Jun 19, 2011 · The reason RTE is not available in England, Scotland and Wales is simply a rights issue, in the same way French or German TV is not intended to be received here. They pay a price for their programmes based on the viewers it can reach and so is a lot cheaper then a UK rights holder would pay.
